Lies to a dying sun
by Travis MacMillan
to CathyBroken beams of sunlight
dance as their author drowns
unceremoniously into the horizon.
All the while, she succors
the great beast as it languishes,
gasping for life, fleeing from oblivion.
"There, there. All will be well,"
you lie as your smile warms the night's stars.
"Tomorrow all will be set right."
Plunging through the stellar underworld,
the fallen sun's curses echo throughout
the endlessness that swallows everything in time.
