Conversation and souls connecting

Recently I went to a family cookout and talked to a bunch of family members, some I see often and others much less often. Besides eating at our family cookouts, us MacMillans talk. Alot.

Throughout the course of the cookout I noticed or rather felt different depths of conversation. Some ranging from pleasantries to deeper issues of life. Even in some so called "deep" conversations it became evident to me that the subject matter is not always the deciding factor that makes the conversation between two people truly meaningful.

Inside everyone one of us is a soul. It longs to communicate with other souls. There are a few means for it to achieve this end. Art in its various forms ranging from music to art, facial gestures, bodily contact, writing, and of course speaking.

Now although these vehicles can be used to express the soul's inner content or reach out to other souls they do not always bridge the gap. Sometimes what is inside is murky and unclear and it is not possible to adequately draw out the ether like substance that drifts to and fro within. Sometimes when one soul tries to touch another the would be receiving end does not wish to take what is being offered. There are wonderful times, however, where one opens their self to others and are received and vice versa. Times such as these are sweet and too rare in my life, unfortunately. There are those who care for me deeply and me for them, yet we do not always connect soul to soul at the deeper level of our selves.

As I had said before there doesn't even need to be profound conversation for souls to connect. I think the needed elements are the desire to connect and love for the other person. A "How was your day?" if it is sincere can be much more meaningful than a discussion on life's loftier issues.

I hope and pray that whoever takes the time to read this will have many intimate exchanges between their souls and others.
